Reflections about my Blogging Experience

The experience of writting in a blog was really nice, because it gave me the possibility to achieve in a practical way, tools that are necessary to write properly in English.

When the semester started, I already knew that we had to make a blog in this class, because the last year, I started to attend this class, but a few weeks later i quited because I tought that it wasn't the right level for me.

So, in that first oppotunity , I could notice that the activity was very entertaining, especially because everyone used to post in each other's blogs. Another thing that called my attention about the blog were the topics, which were very stimulating and contingent.

My personal experience ( Development):

In my personal experience, I can say that I enjoyed the activity very much, and every post was very challenging for me, because I had to learn to use new words and expressions each class which was very enriching for my English wealth. Also I really liked the topics that we had to write about, because made me remind people that I miss or admire, and important situations that have ocurred in my life.

I have to admit that I had never written in blog before this year. And I didn't know how to use it at first, especially because I configured it in english at once so it was harder for me to find the tools, or adding a contact, because I'm not very into technology .

In my opinion, one of the advantages of writting in a blog, is that the form that we use for writting it's no so formal and structured, so we are able to express ourlselves in a free way, in spite of having guidelines, which actually were more helpful than restrictive.

I think that another advantage in the case of this class, was having a limit time to post, because it forced us to think fast and develop ideas in a short time. So in many cases we had to use our notes taken in classes to articulate expressions that seemed simple but not all of them or not always were in hand.
I think that there's not disadvantages in this activity, on the contrary, it's very positive to have a platform where you can make entertaining exercises like these.

Final Reflections (Conclusion)

As a way to conclude the experience, I can say that writting in a blog was an original way to improve vocabulary, grammar and fluency, tools that are necessary to write properly.
And in the other hand, it's important to emphasize that when you feel comfortable with what you're doing, in this case the blogging experience, the pressure slows down and allows us to write with more confidence, which is fundamental to dare and give the step of expressing in a foreign language, especially if we consider that in our professional future, being able to do this will make a difference and will give us a plus as Public Managers.

My favorite picture!!

Hi everyone: This time I have to talk about a picture which I like and I chose a beautiful picture thast was taken a couple of years ago when I graduated from fourth grade. I like this photo because it's very symbolic, it shows when my classmates and I were writing on each others shirts, goodbye messages on our last day at school which was also one of the sadest days in my life. I loved my school and I think I will always love it because I grew and learnt a lot between those walls .. I used to be there the whole day because I never wanted to leave. Everybody knew me there since I was a baby because my two older sisters studied there so school was like my second home and my friends teachers where like my second family.
I don't remember exactly who took this picture but I guess that was one of my classmates. Who were collecting our last pictures together.

I remember that day, it was so fun, the day was dedicated to us. Teachers prepared choreographies and the girls of the third grade prepared a surprise for us we had to go through the whole school reminding our first classroom and our first day at school and then, the kids from kindergarten joined us to the schoolyard where a techer was reading a brief description about each one and at the end the director gave us flowers and then the final bell rang and we had to leave the school as a symbol and a beautiful song was playing at that moment!!!..

My favorite Festivity

I love festivities in general. I'm not one of those that get a little sad when a festivity is coming actually it makes me really happy In spite that in my family we don't celebrate much because on those dates my parents have a lot of work because they are both storekeepers.

But My favorite of all festivities are definitely the National festivities because I love dancing cueca and eating Chilean typical food and at that date I always do those things.

I usually spend that festivity with my family at home most of the time because my father doesn't like "fondas" very much he says that those are full of drunk people that usually get violent. I don't agree completely with that because I love fondas specially those where a band is playing cueca and other kinds of music not very Chilean but very good to dance too.

On september 18th we usually stay at home and eat "empanadas" and my mom makes a barbecue. And in the evening we go with my little niece to the country side so she can fly a kite or a few because she always loses them.

On September 19th my father doesn't work and we always watch the military parade. He gets very nostalgic when this happens because he used to parade when he studied at the air force's speciality school.

But last year I celebrated in a special way because I wasn't at home I was here in Santiago the first days of the festivity and I spent it with my college friends who couldn't travel to their hometowns.

We went to Huaso Carlo that is a traditional bar and restaurant and we had a great time in there.

This year I would love to learn how to dance cueca better and maybe to compite, and I want to have my own costume.

Mu favorite Festivity

Hi everyone:
This time I have to talk about my favorite piece of technology, and first of all I have to say that I don't like technology much. But there's an object that I really enjoy which is my Mp4 I know that it is very simple and it doesn't do much but I love it because one of my favorite hobbies is listening to music and it allows me to listen to the music that I like everywhere and anytime.
My father bought it for me when he went to Iquique because he hated that when we went on trips I alkways wanted to change the radio. At that time I had one already but that one had less memory, so i changed it.
I don't really use it like I should because I could put and watch videos on it but I have never done it because I don't know how. Actually I have to accept that the main reason I don't like technology is because I'm very clumsy with it and I'm always scared that I can damage what I'm using.
But In spite that I just use my mp4 to listening to music it makes me really happy.

I use it really often almost all long day when it's charged. My friends don't like it very much because they think that when i'm listening to music I'm not paying attention to them. But that's not true I like listening to music because I feel like my life has a playlist and that each song adjust with my mood. So life without it wolud be a little bit worse or sad.

My oldest friend

I don't have just one friend that I consider the best one, but I am going to talk about Catalina Hidalgo because she is my oldest friend and she has been present in my life longer than any other friend.
I met Cata when we were both four years old and we didn't see each other from that age untill she entered to my school a few years later. I met her because she is the daughter of one of my mother's friends and we used to play together in the building where my mother works. But we became best friends when we were older because we have a lot of things in common and we get along really well. I've never been to close to someone in particular I've always liked sharing with a lot of people because I think that it's not easy to find everything that you need in a friend in just one person and she thinks that way too so, we don't meet very often but when we do, we talk for hours about everything. I love talking to her because she's is very understanding and she always gives me very good advice. The best memory that I have with her is about a day when we were togheter in Viña talking at night about our future at the University and suddenly she said to me that she believed that I was going to be successful, that she believed in me, I felt really happy when she said that because I was really insecure and her opinion was really important to me. I really love her because she is really good to the people and she will always be in my heart! :).

Robert Owen

I had to choose a person related to the field I'm studying, who I admire , and I chose Robert Owen. He was a british philosopher businnesan and activist of socialism. He was a self-taught and He succeed as a businesman at the cotton industry. He owned and managed New Lanark textile factory for a few years, and meanwhile he introduced some changes in the industry to improve the situation of his employees, that was really preacarious at that time, because of the capitalism.
I admire him because at that time it was hard to find managers or businessmen who believed that it was possible to increase the production giving good conditions to work and a good treatment to their employees, and he did it and he demonstrated it.
I also admire his innovative skills because at the time that he was in charge of New Lanark, the management theory was very scarce, so he set a precedent in the implementation of some mechanisms that later would constitute fundamental concepts of management. So in spite that he didn't write any article he gave material to the next theorists specially to the the members of the human relations school who considered Owen as a pioneer of this management tendency whose contributions are recognized and studied untill these days.

The big earthquake!

I was spending the last days of my vacations in Viña del Mar at an uncle’s house when something unexpected hapenned.
A strong earthquake ocurred and it affected a great area in our country. At the momento of the earthquake I was in a club with one of my cousins and her friends. And the truth is that I didn’t realize that what we had experienced wasn’t just a simple tremblor after a while. Actually it was the first earthquake in our lives.
After a couple of days when everything went back to normal. My cousins and I felt that we had to do something, so we went to Universidad Catolica de Valparaíso to offer our help and then we went to the hospital to donate blood. I think that we handled very well the situation because in spite of being really nervious we didn’t lose control. But if there’s a lesson learnt it’s that in situations like this we are never prepared enough.

This is me!

Hi everyone!

My name is Francisca Guerrero, I'm 19 years old. I'm originally from San Felipe but i had to move to Santiago to study. I really like this city in spite of the crime and the pollution. living in such a big city allows me to accede to a great diversity of people and activities, which is very exciting but it also makes me realize that there's no place as quiet as San Felipe, so every weekends I go back home and I spend some time with my family, specially with mummy who I miss so much when I'm in Santiago. In the big city I've met lots of people and some of them became my second family.

I think that the experience of being away from home has made me grow and learn to do more things on my own, which is very important but at the same time very hard

Well...for those who didn't know me ... this is a little bit of me

Bye! ... and have a nice day!
